Liphook United Football Club hosted a groundhopper for their Hampshire Premier League Senior Division game against Stockbridge.
John Stancombe travelled from Lowestoft for the Stockbridge game – a round trip of more than six hours.
This now means John has been to 1,821 non-league games across the country.
John is totally blind, so Liphook arranged for someone to collect him from the station and stay with him throughout to commentate on the game for him.
John had a superb time, and the club loved welcoming him. John picked a good game to attend, as Liphook and Stockbridge played out a 3-3 draw.
Liphook were in action again on Saturday in the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division, when they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at local rivals Liss Athletic. The result means Liss have completed the league double over title-chasing Liphook.
A fantastic crowd of 190 – only bettered by one in the entire Wessex League – oversaw an excellent advert for the Hampshire Premier League.
An acrobatic volley from Elliot Harrison got Liss off to the perfect start, before Harrison neatly slotted past Harry Adey in the visitors’ goal for a second. Jack Butler made it three for the Blues in the first half, and they led 3-1 going into the break after Marco Silletto reduced the arrears for Liphook.
Liphook rallied further in the second half and Billy Alcock pulled a second back late on when down to ten following a red card.
The 3-2 victory sees Mark Glazier's side return to the top five in the Hampshire Premier League table. It was only Liphook’s fourth league defeat of the season.
