Alice Holt Forest was chosen as one of the key locations for this season’s Forest Runner race series.

Offering both 5km and 10km runs, the event took place on tracks through the picturesque and peaceful woodland, with a few hills thrown in to add a challenge.

The race was started by Farnham-based Paralympian Rachel Morris and attracted nearly 300 runners and enthusiasts. Everyone who crossed the finish line received a goodie bag including a tree sapling and wooden medal.

Jonathan McGloin, recreation manager at Alice Holt Forest, said: “It’s been brilliant to bring one of the Forest Runner events to Alice Holt Forest and the event had an amazing atmosphere.

“The race is about more than being first to the finish line, it was an opportunity to enjoy the journey in beautiful surroundings. All the money raised by the event goes back into our local forests.”
