AFTER returning home from the FEI European Show Jumping Championships in Slovakia with a team silver medal for GB, Bentworth showjumper Scarlett Charles had even more reasons to celebrate.

Scarlett, a pupil at Alton Convent School, achieved 9A* and one A grade in her GCSE exams.

And the proud pupil said: “I’m so pleased that all the hard work has paid off. It has been a real balancing act studying for my GCSEs and also competing for GB at European level. I would like to thank all my teachers at Alton Convent for their support.”

Scarlett was part of the British junior team who took silver last monthat the FEI Children, Junior and Young Rider European Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, riding her father Peter’s 11-year-old grey mare Sacree Du Rouet.

Her brother, Harry, 18, put in two impressive rounds with Vivaldi du Dom, a 12-year-old chestnut gelding owned by father Peter, to help the team to victory, going on to win individual silver in the Junior riders section.
