YOUNGSTERS who had never set foot on a court before have been learning tennis for free at Liphook Tennis Club, where coach Andy Warry has again taken part in the Tennis for Kids initiative set up by the LTA.
The course focuses on getting kids active by combining basic hand-eye coordination with rudimentary tennis skills.
Parents were encouraged to join for the final session when 20,000 children nationwide were gifted their first rackets.
Tennis for Kids was launched after Great Britain’s historic Davis Cup victory in 2015 to help create a new generation of tennis-loving children.
The free six-week course is led by 1,000 coaches, who have been specially trained by Davis Cup captain Leon Smith, former British number ones Greg Rusedski and Annabel Croft, and 2016 Wimbledon wheelchair doubles champion Alfie Hewett.
Andy Warry said it had been one of the best training courses and as a result five youngsters have joined Liphook Tennis Club and will play at the junior training sessions on Saturday mornings.
