Petersfield Hockey Club’s men’s third team adapted their game plan to the very wet weather to earn a creditable 1-1 draw at Trojans’ sixth team.

The two evenly-matched teams ran each other hard all the way through the game.

The rain fell throughout, making expansive play impossible, and rewarding a simple strategy of short passes and tight support play.

Petersfield’s youthful attacking line threatened with pace from the start and they were rewarded when Nate scored following a short corner.

There were chances at either end after that, with both keepers making key saves. Trojans equalised in the second half, which set up an exciting end-to-end finale. Neither team were able to find a winner, and the points were shared.
