LOTTIE Woad, the 14-year-old rising star from Farnham Golf Club, won the Surrey Girls County Championship Under-15 title during half-term.

Playing over 36 holes at The Drift GC in East Horsley, competitors had to deal with prolonged torrential rain, but Lottie shot gross rounds of 71 (one under par) and 79 to secure the title by five shots from Hyun-Ji Kim of Wimbledon Park.

The Farnham girl’s first round, which included five birdies and an eagle, gave her a two-shot halfway lead in the U18 Championship, but she eventually finished second by just a single shot to 17-year-old Jess Adams (Burhill GC), the reigning Surrey Ladies County Champion.

However, Lottie lifted the Keiller Trophy for her 71, the lowest round of the day.

She previously travelled to Cumberwell GC, near Bath, for a Tri-Regional semi-final match, where she shot a gross 72 to help Team South to a dominant 11-shot victory over the Midland and South-West Regions. Team South are now through to the National Final at Woodhall Spa.
