Farnham Town are hoping to create a memorable piece of club history in the FA Vase at The Memorial Ground today (Saturday).

Town are hoping to equal their best-ever run in the FA Vase by reaching the fourth round proper of the competition for the first time since the 1976-77 season.

Paul Johnson’s side will host Combined Counties Premier Division North outfit Burnham at The Memorial Ground in the third round proper today (Saturday) at 3pm knowing they are a win away from making history.

Town have already won four ties to reach this stage of the competition.

Farnham’s FA Vase run started with a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Wessex League Premier Division high-fliers AFC Stoneham in the first qualifying round.

Town then comfortably swatted aside Wessex League Division One outfit Millbrook 8-0 in the second qualifying round, before edging out a competitive Rising Ballers Kensington side 1-0 in the first round proper and comfortably winning 4-1 at home to Snodland Town in the second round proper.

Farnham’s record-equalling run in the FA Vase hasn’t affected their league form – Town are proudly sitting at the top of the league in the Combined Counties Premier Division South after winning their first 13 league games this season.

Johnson is looking forward to today’s tie against Burnham and the opportunity to create some history for the club.

“We trained on Thursday and we’ll look forward to Burnham,” said Johnson.

“I went and watched Burnham last Wednesday – it will be a good game.”

Burnham are currently in tenth place in the Combined Counties Premier Division North after winning six, drawing four and losing three games to pick up 22 points from their first 13 league games of the season.

Farnham will also be in cup next Tuesday night (December 5), when they will host Rayners Lane at The Memorial Ground in the Premier Challenge Cup (7.45pm).

Town will then return to Combined Counties Premier Division South action after a two-week break with a trip to high-flying Redhill on Saturday, December 9 (3pm).
