Farnham Town reached 95 points in the Combined Counties Premier Division South with a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Balham.

Goals from Shamal Edwards, Owen Dean (2) and Adam Liddle gave the champions the three points at The Memorial Ground.

Farnham’s first clear-cut chance arrived in the 14th minute when Dean was through one-on-one with Balham keeper Jesus Gonzalez, who made a smart save with his feet to deny the Farnham number seven.

The visitors created their first chance two minutes later, when Alec Fiddes’ powerful shot forced a sharp save by Farnham keeper Pat Nash.

The home side took the lead in the 38th minute when Dean unselfishly squared the ball across the box for Edwards, whose effort just about crept over the line and into the empty net.

Edwards returned the favour three minutes later when he set up Dean, who calmly poked the ball past the onrushing Gonzalez.

Farnham continued to press in the second half, and scored their third goal in the 59th minute. Mark Waters delivered a teasing free kick from the right, and Town did well to keep the ball alive before Liddle took a touch and rifled his finish into the roof of the net.

Town almost scored a fourth two minutes later when Kai Tanner went round Gonzalez, but his effort was cleared off the line.

The home side went close again on 71 minutes when Dean squared the ball to Liddle, who blazed his effort over the bar.

Farnham scored their fourth in stoppage time. Substitute Harry Cooksley’s perfectly-weighted through ball found Dean, who confidently finished into the bottom right-hand corner.

Next up for Farnham is a home game against Cobham in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
