HASLEMERE stretched their lead in the Surrey Championship Division Five to 54 points after dispatching Guildford City at the Sutherland Memorial Park.
Invited to bat, Haslemere were again indebted to the two Christophers, Hooker and Spooner, who put on a solid 61 for the first wicket.
The City bowling was tight and Hooker continued to anchor the innings, supported by Sam Williams, as Haslemere moved to 150-2.
Hooker was finally caught and bowled by Zafar Khan for 75 and Haslemere declared at 202-6 after 55 overs.
Guildford City were 5-2 in next to no time as Ollie Ellis and Chris May snapped up a wicket apiece. But the home team were in with a chance of at least saving the game while Sami Khan and Saj Mohammad were adding 68 for the fourth wicket.
Spooner finally broke the stand and, soon after, opener Khan was caught by Spooner off Williams for a fine 57.
Paul Jarmain picked up two valuable wickets and Ellis returned to shoot out the tail as City went from 113-5 to 133 all out in the 41st over.
Battersea – second from bottom – visit Haslemere this Saturday.
