THE inaugural Liverpool International Horse Show (Jan 1-3) will provide a first-hand glimpse of the multi-talented Charles showjumping family from Bentworth, near Alton, whose profile and success story is growing by the day.

Peter Charles’ riding career stands comparison with the best. As an Olympic team gold medallist, he famously delivered the winning jump-off round on Vindicat W at London 2012.

He is a former European individual champion and winner of Hickstead’s prestigious Longines King George V Gold Cup.

Charles Snr will contest the four-star classes alongside many of the world’s leading riders. Son Harry and daughters Scarlett and Sienna, all rising stars, will be on the trail of amateur junior success at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

“We are absolute sticklers for getting all the small things right. There is no magic formula of one particular thing,” said Peter Charles. “They are all taught to ride well, they all focus well and they all like to win, but they know how to win. You have to learn how to win."

Liverpool’s first international horse show will kick-start the 2016 Olympic year. Each day will feature both afternoon and evening performances, with a 6,000 strong audience each time. The action-packed schedule combines world-class show jumping with the ever-popular Shetland Pony Grand National, while Clémence Faivre is scheduled to give a spectacular display of equestrian arts with her Lusitano horses.
