Badshot Lea Football Club made supporters a good offer before Christmas – don’t pay an admission fee, turn up with a toy instead and watch the match for free.

The donated toys they collected were handed over to Frimley Park Hospital children’s ward on the Wednesday before Christmas.

Josh Pound, who has been with the Baggies for 15 years and came through the club’s youth set-up, said: “We were very humbled by the youngsters whose medical conditions meant they were in hospital over Christmas.”

Team-mate Adam New, also a Baggies player for 15 years and a key member of the promotion-chasing squad, said: “It was a very moving experience to see the children’s eyes light up when they saw the wrapped presents.”

Nick Medcraft made up a trio of players to travel to the hospital, alongside club chairman Mark Broad.
