A Team GB javelin thrower has encouraged youngsters to aim high after visiting his old school in East Hampshire.

Ned Scott gave a masterclass in athletics to impressed pupils at Froxfield Primary School last Tuesday.

The former Perins student was an inspiration, telling pupils about his sporting journey before showing off his skills on the sports field.

“He threw over 60 metres for us, much to the amazement of pupils and staff alike,” said a spokesperson for the school, adding: “We would like to thank Ned for inspiring the next generation of athletes.”

The 17-year-old is ranked sixth in his Team GB age group and was a European U18 Championships silver medallist in May thanks to a whopping throw of 72.38 metres.
