POLICE have been checking traffic speeds on London Road after Liphook Speedwatch volunteers revealed it was a speeding hotspot.

Speedwatch co-ordinator parish councillor Eddie Trotter said: “Our reports contribute to traffic calming measures taken by police and the county council.”

The findings came from 20 Speedwatch sessions in the first quarter of 2022.

Cllr Trotter added: “We also noticed high volumes of speeding just inside the 30mph limit on Haslemere Road, and along Longmoor road, just before the end of the 30mph limit.

“Many thanks to most drivers who comply with speed limits, but a few are on a mission, doing 52mph in a 30mph zone and 62mph in a 40mph zone.”

And at residents’ request, two new locations will be monitored – the B3004 at Passfield, and Haslemere Road where the 30mph limit stops.

Speedwatch volunteer and county councillor Debbie Curnow-Ford said: “It’s great to be able to respond to concerns by getting these locations approved, but we really need more volunteers to help.”
