A FOUR-YEAR wait for a Christmas party will end this weekend when a Rother Valley community holds a festive fundraiser.

The much-loved Rogate Christmas Market will make its long-awaited return to the village hall this Saturday after a four-year absence.

The venue will be bursting at the seams with festive stalls, activities for children, food and refreshments while Father Christmas is also flying in to take up residence in his grotto.

The market will begin at 10am but the children of Rogate CoE Primary School will get visitors in the festive mood with carols at 9.45am.

Shoppers can expect books, presents, plenty of stocking fillers and delicious homemade cakes, preserves and chutneys along with a “fabulous” bric-a-brac collection.

New additions include a natural Christmas decorations stall with festive table decorations and beautiful wreaths to order.

Traditional favourites like the ‘designer Christmas Cake raffle’, bottle tombola and grand raffle with a top prize of £200 will make a return with tickets available on the day or from the village stores.

There’s a Teddy Bear Tombola for younger visitors and a treasure trove of new and pre-loved quality toys.

The market will be open from 10am to 1pm. Entry is free but donations are welcome as proceeds will be split between Family Support Work and Rogate School Family & Friends.
