Fairytales will come true in Petersfield on Bank Holiday Monday as a princess will be crowned during a weekend of family fun.

Party time is approaching as the Petersfield Spring Festival will take over the town centre this bank holiday weekend.

Visitors can expect another awesome programme of stalls, street food, classic cars and live music around The Square, High Street and Chapel Street from Saturday evening onwards.

It should be a feast for the eyes and senses with firefighters, baton twirlers and dinosaurs taking to the streets with organisers Petersfield Community Events planning a weekend of firsts.

The party will begin at 7pm with pop and rock covers from four-piece Parallel Lines before headliners, The Fabulous Fug Band, take to the stage in The Square.

The inaugural Petersfield Indie Market will take over Lavant Street from 10am to 4pm on Sunday while skater boys and girls should roll up to the BMW Skate & Scoot Academy for a masterclass from two former world champions.

Browsers can expect children’s craft workshops, a meet and greet with Petersfield Firefighters and baton demonstrations by the Phoenix Twirlers of Bordon.

Sunday is also Petersfield Dino Day as Professor Foss-Cecil and the Jurassic Safari Team can’t wait to share their findings, dino facts and fossil rubbing tips with new Dino Discoverers.

Ska and reggae outfit The Accelerators will headline a day of music with Fusion Beats, Gem’n’i, Rescue Mission, Tegalu Cat, Archie McKeown, Wonderboy and The Voltaires also on the bill.

Monday is Petersfield Princess Day with the judging of a fancy dress competition at 2.45pm and classic cars taking over Chapel Street. Ruthie’s Cupcakes will hold cake decorating workshops from 10am with The Farleys headlining a bill that includes Mark Vennis & Different Place, Bryony Heart, Rory Evans, Rosewater and Electroverse.
