There’s a full round-up of all the Remembrance services taking place around East Hampshire and Waverley in tomorrow’s edition of the Herald & Post.

But here’s a quick rundown of some events taking place around the Petersfield Post area, starting with the town itself.

PETERSFIELD

Tens of thousands of knitted and crocheted poppies draped over parts of St Peter’s church will provide the stunning backdrop for this year’s Remembrance Sunday service in Petersfield.

Uniformed organisations will gather at Swan Street Car Park at 09.45am ready to march to the square at 10.15am with the open-air service, led by Rev Will Hughes, beginning approximately ten minutes later.

The parade will include the Petersfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, the Combined Cadet Forces of Churchers College and The Petersfield School, The Petersfield Air Training Corps, Members of the local Scouts and Guides and other organisations.

The parade will proceed afterward to the War Memorial in the High Street for the sounding of The Last Post, the two-minutes silence, laying of wreaths and the listing of the roll of honour.

Affected roads will be closed from 7.30am with full re-openings by midday.

LISS

The Liss Band will lead a parade from the Liss RBL club to St Mary’s church for a service at 10.30am.

A Chinook fly-over is expected to coincide with the parade’s return journey at 11.30am to the war memorial for the Act of Remembrance.

The people of Liss pay their respects for the fallen at the village’s war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.

HORNDEAN

The village’s annual Remembrance Service will begin at the war memorial in village at 10.40am.

The parade will leave the Scout Hut on Queens Crescent beforehand with Blendworth Lane being closed from 9.45am to 1pm and Havant Road, Portsmouth Road and Five Heads Road shutting from 10am to midday.
