Actor Andrew Scott shines in a cinema screening of National Theatre Live’s Vanya (15) at the Theatre Royal Winchester on Saturday at 7pm.

In this radical new version of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, television and film favourite Scott brings multiple characters to life in a story exploring hopes, dreams, regrets and the complexities of human emotions.

Vanya is an adaptation by playwright Simon Stephens whose works include the Olivier Award winning adaptation of Mark Haddon’s novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

It is directed by Sam Yates (Glengarry Glen Ross at the Playhouse Theatre in London, featuring actor Christian Slater, and East is East at the Trafalgar Theatre in London, starring Jane Horrocks).

This screening of Vanya is of the production filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End.
