A recent charity walk in memory of an inspirational campaigner and family man from Petersfield was a record breaker with its popularity continuing to grow.
The final total from this year’s March for Men with Kev has been confirmed by organisers with the annual fundraiser on September 14 raising a huge £14,231.
The third annual event was the biggest and most inspiring event yet with more than 350 people taking part in a walk honouring the late and great Kevan Birkett.
The tradesman and Leeds United fan devoted his final months to raising awareness of the importance of prostate cancer testing, symptoms and awareness before passing away in May 2023.

His legacy is the M4MWK with half the proceeds going to Prostate Cancer UK and the remainder being split between PCaSo and The Rosemary Foundation.
The march has become one of the biggest events on the town calendar with dozens of shops, businesses and supporters donating prizes and the walks being supported by a fantastic team of marshals and volunteers.
The organising team – namely the Birkett family, Lucinda Long and Denise Lloyd – have expressed their heartfelt thanks to everyone who pounded the streets of Petersfield for Kev and the good causes.
They said: “We are truly grateful for every walker, volunteer, donor, business and friend who supported this year’s march.

“Your kindness and commitment have made a real difference, and together, we are continuing Kev’s legacy to help save men’s lives.”
Prostate cancer is the common cancer in males in the UK with one dying every 45 minutes from the disease, so early detection is vital.
Organisers have also urged fundraisers to save the date with the 2026 March for Men With Kev taking place in The Square, Petersfield, on Sunday, September 13.
