SURREY Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Group, which covers the Haslemere area, says it is ramping up its Covid-19 booster rollout.

The announcement comes following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest Covid address to the nation on Sunday evening.

During it, he urged people to get their booster jabs to help tackle the new Omicron variant.

Surrey Heartlands vaccination programme lead Lorna Hart said: "Frontline teams continue to do an incredible job in vaccinating thousands of people every day.

"We are working closely with our local vaccination sites to rapidly expand the Covid-19 vaccination programme, with the aim of offering all adults a booster jab by the end of December.

"As well as rapidly expanding capacity at our sites to offer more appointments, we are also redeploying staff to support our vaccination teams."

Secondary schools across the Haslemere area have also confirmed their pupils have now received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Woolmer Hill School said its pupils have had their first dose of vaccine, with the school being visited by vaccination teams a couple of times.

Rodborough School also confirmed its pupils have had their first dose vaccines, with vaccinations starting at the school on November 24.
