After a three-year break, Haslemere Thespians’ young actors’ company The Next Generation are back and rehearsing a fabulous version of the Roald Dahl classic James and the Giant Peach, adapted by David Wood with original music by Chris Snelling.

When James Henry Trotter’s parents are killed in unusual circumstances he is sent to live with his truly vile aunts. Life is miserable until magical events result in the appearance of a giant peach with some very special inhabitants. James sets off with his new companions on the adventure of a lifetime.

Sally Waghorn is directing the show and said: “After the huge success of our last production, Wind in the Willows in 2019, I’m really excited to be back with such a talented and enthusiastic group of young performers and can’t wait for them to be in front of an audience.

“I’m very grateful for the sponsorship of this production by The Royal School, Haslemere and we are looking forward to performing in their theatre.”

Suitable for all the family, there will be three performances: 7.30pm on Friday, June 30 and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, July 1. The venue is The Kilmorey Theatre, The Royal School, Farnham Lane, Haslemere, GU27 1HQ, and tickets are available from haslemerethespians.co.uk, and haslemerehall.co.uk
