Audience members won’t be raising merry hell when they go to Grayshott Folk Club on August 5 – because Merry Hell will be the band they’ve come to see!
Their gig at Grayshott Village Hall will start at 7.30pm and they will be supported by Virginia Kettle.
Des O’Byrne from Grayshott Folk Club said: “No self-respecting folk festival is complete without everyone’s festival folk/rock favourites Merry Hell in the line-up.
“Their brand of anthemic, uplifting and joyous folk/rock is infectious and carries a message of hope for us all.
“We will be re-creating the festival vibe at Grayshott Village Hall and we hope you won’t be able to resist Merry Hell’s invitation to join in.
“You can be sure of a ‘reet good night out’.”
Merry Hell have recently released a 28-track double CD called Let The Music Speak For Itself which is a retrospective look at the band’s achievements so far.
The tracks were chosen by their fans and the album is already receiving five-star reviews.
Mr O’Byrne added: “Through 12 great years, six albums and hundreds of gigs, Merry Hell have shared their music, joy and hope with as many people as possible.
“This double CD is an attempt to distil all the above into a flavour of the band; who we are and what we do.
“For that reason, there could only be one title: Let The Music Speak For Itself.
“This collection does not represent the beginning of the end; it represents the end of the beginning.”
This will be the third time Merry Hell have made the journey down from their native Wigan to Grayshott, and the village will be in illustrious company as they will be appearing at many major festivals across the UK this year.
These will include Wickham, Towersey, Chickenstock and, for the first time, they will be playing the main stage at Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival, as well as appearing at the Costa Folk Festival in Portugal.
The band said: “Though our hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before us, we bring you new words and music forged from our own experiences, from the lows and the loves of our lives.
“Our art is energy and our hope is unity. Our pleasure is to please: let the audience be the acid test and let the music speak for itself.”
