WE KNEW you wouldn’t let us down! The Herald asked for details of Jubilee events happening locally over the June 2 to 5 long weekend – and what a list of Jubilee celebrations we have lined up...

There’s everything from royal-themed village fêtes to Big Lunches, live music nights, pub quizzes, classic car festivals and much more to look forward to, so get ready for a right royal good time!

Here’s our list of events for the first day of the four-day Jubilee weekend, Thursday, June 2:

  • Arford: Ukelele Music Festival, at The Crown, midday to closing time – barbecue and, from 2pm, live music when local legends The Moonroller Ukelele  Band take to the stage. No reservations necessary, with all proceeds going to dyslexia charity Helen Arkell based in Frensham.
  • Rowledge: Rowledge’s Jubilee-themed village fayre will take place from midday to 4pm at Rowledge recreation ground, promising the usual mix of traditional family fun, music, stalls, food and drink, as well as a few surprises. It kicks off with a gym display by the children of Rowledge Primary School, followed by Mr Giant’s wobbly bikes and balloon modelling (1pm), dog show (1.15pm), Farnham Brass Band (1.30pm), Punch and Judy show (2pm and 3.15pm), fun sports (from 2.30pm), and closes after the grand raffle draw (3.45pm). 
  • Whitehill & Bordon: Queen’s Jubilee Heritage Treasure Hunt, on the Green Loop – treasure trail will be set up from 10am on both Thursday, June 2, and Friday, June 3, organised by Woolmer Forest Heritage Society.
  • Binsted: Parish celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, at Binsted Recreation Ground, from 5pm to 10pm – Family fun and entertainment from 5pm, hog roast from 6.30 to 8.30pm (BYO picnics welcome), bonfire at 9.45pm followed by fireworks from 9.45pm to 10pm.   • East Worldham: Bonfire Beacon lighting event, meet at The Three Horseshoes pub, leaving at 9pm – A lantern procession to nearby Park Farm where the Bonfire Beacon will be lit at 9.45pm.
  • Badshot LeaAfternoon Tea, St George’s Church, 2.45pm to 5.30pm – With an exhibition of coronation and Queen Elizabeth memorabilia and entertainment. Book your free ticket in advance by emailing [email protected] or call 01252 318135.
  • Elstead: Bake Off Competition, Thursley Road Rec – Keen adult and child bakers are invited to compete for the coveted award of Elstead’s Best Baker. Enter the following categories: i) sweet/savoury scone, ii) biscuit/cookies, iii) Jubilee cake. Bring along home-baked entries at 10am for judging at the marquee.
  • Elstead: Afternoon Tea Party and Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Thursley Road Rec – Senior members of the village will be able to enjoy the results of the morning’s Bake Off competition alongside toddlers bringing their furry teddies. Two tea sittings: 2.30pm to 3.30pm and 4pm to 5pm.
  • Elstead: Beacon Lighting and Blues Festival, Royal British Legion – Celebrations begin at 2pm with local blues bands. PETS will perform at 8.30pm. Official beacon lighting at 9.45pm accompanied by a rendition of the National Anthem sung by a local choir.
  • Haslemere: Jubilee bonfire and fireworks, Woolmer Hill Sports Ground, from 8pm –  Entertainment and a torchlight procession at 8.45pm to process to the bonfire that will be lit at the same time as beacons across the country. Food and drink will be available and a firework display will round off the evening.
  • Liphook: Platinum Jubilee Picnic on the Millennium Green, 10am to 4pm  – Celebrate this historic event with friends, family, and your local community; enjoy activities provided by local volunteer groups. Bring a picnic, deckchairs, and blanket. The theme is Seven Decades  so choose a decade and dress accordingly.
