Alice Holt Forest is half-term ready with several new attractions opening in time for the school holiday.

Families can follow the brand-new Zog-themed trail, inspired by Julia Donaldson's much-loved children's book, and complete a series of challenges using the interactive app, find the new Gruffalo sculpture deep in the forest and challenge themselves on the adventurous new ship-themed play structure.

Zog, everyone’s favourite dragon, is returning for a woodland-filled adventure that encourages children to learn about how they can care for the forest and how the forests can care for them.

Families can pick up a Zog trail activity pack with lots of fun activities for £4 at the visitor centre. Children can channel their inner Zog by donning a pair of wings and collect golden stars by completing a series of challenges.

They can also pop on the magic glasses to look for hidden letters along the way to solve a word puzzle. When reaching the end of the trail, they complete a crayon rubbing to get their certificate and take a selfie with Zog!

To take their dragon training to the next level, there is also an augmented reality app, Zog: A Forest Adventure, free to download. It has lots of activities to complete including a roar-ometer, a dance challenge and the chance to become Zog.

Another famous face will be at Alice Holt Forest this half term. A brand-new Gruffalo wooden sculpture has been placed deep in the woodlands. Families can follow the Timberline Trail to find this well-loved character.

Those looking for even more adventure can try out the new ‘ship’ play structure located in the Playwood area.

In the 18th and 19th century, Alice Holt Forest supplied timber to build ships at Portsmouth’s dockyards. The ship highlights this historical connection, with rigging to climb, challenging balance beams and lots more to keep the kids entertained.

Jonathan McGloin, recreation manager at Alice Holt Forest, said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer families all of these new attractions this half term. For anyone wondering how to keep the kids entertained this holiday, come along to Alice Holt Forest for a real adventure.

“We have something to keep everyone busy having fun in the great outdoors, and after they are worn out, stop for a tasty bite in our café.”
