A civic church service was held at St Bartholomew’s Church on Sunday morning as part of Haslemere’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The service started at 11am with a welcome from the Rev Christopher Bessant, the Rector of Haslemere. The choir of Haslemere parish sang a specially-composed anthem.

The lessons were read by Haslemere mayor Councillor Jacquie Keen and Helen Bowcock. Jacquie was accompanied by Haslemere and Waverley councillor John Robini, while Helen was accompanied by her husband Matthew.

Other dignitaries attending the civic service included former mayor Brian Howard, Haslemere councillors Melanie Odell and David Round, and Haslemere deputy mayor Councillor Jerome Davidson.
