A ‘DILAPIDATED’ care home in Hill Brow could be razed and replaced with one that’s 50 per cent bigger.

Barchester Healthcare says it’s not viable to renovate Wenham Holt because the 44-bedroom home has “reached the end of its useful life”.

The London Road property was closed early this year for refurbishment but concerns were quickly raised about its poor maintenance, structural issues and dampness.

An S-shaped building containing 64 bedrooms has been proposed in its place with the two-storey structure boasting multiple gables and a modern brick finish.
