A police investigation has been launched after an incident at Farnham's Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday.

Surrey Police's Waverley neighbourhood team released the image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the investigation on Monday.

This image has since been withdrawn after officers confirmed the man has been identified.

The incident, which police have not provided any further details of, happened between 4.15pm and 4.30pm in Gostrey Meadow.

It came as thousands of people, many with young children, gathered in the meadow to celebrate the official start of the festive season in Farnham.

A police spokesman said: "If you witnessed anything or have any information which could assist with this investigation, please contact us quoting reference number PR/45230131593."
