POLICE in Waverley are warning drug users of a report that heroin is being mixed with fentanyl and carfentanil locally.

Officers say heroin mixed with the two substances is “more likely to cause fatal overdoses” than standard heroin.

A police spokesman said: “A report has come to our attention of the potential purchase and distribution of fentanyl and carfentanil within the heroin market in west Surrey, specifically Waverley. “We are aware that these could be used as a mixing agent with heroin, which can be done without the user’s knowledge. This is more likely to cause fatal overdoses in users than a standard batch of heroin.

“We are making enquiries around this report and urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to contact us quoting crime reference number PR/4522002809.”
