The Farnham Sports Awards were presented at a packed rugby club by the mayor of Waverley, Cllr John Ward, and the mayor of Farnham, Cllr Alan Earwaker.

The master of ceremony duties was carried out by former town crier Jonathan Jones and the sports council secretary Sue Keogh.

Sue said: “It was another fantastic celebration of local sport with so many impressive individuals, teams and clubs receiving well-deserved awards. We would like to thank Farnham Rugby Club for yet again hosting the event at their excellent venue and we would also like to thank the Herald for all the willing promotional support Farnham’s sports awards secure from our local newspaper.”

Sports Council chairman David Gill said: “I must single out the Sports Personality winner Lottie Woad.

“If residents of Farnham are proud of the sporting legends who come from our town – including racing driver Mike Hawthorn, rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson, cricketer Graham Thorpe and double gold Paralympic medallist Rachel Morris – then please watch out for Lottie on the world’s golf circuit. We are convinced she has the potential to achieve great things in her sport.”
