PETERSFIELD RFC brought the curtain down on one of their most successful seasons with the annual Pub Sevens tournament at Penns Place.
Twenty-three teams joined the end-of-season party – sponsored by the Trooper Inn.
The weather held for the first few hours as the teams battled it out in the round-robin leagues. White Horse were impressive from the start, while Clubhouse Hunters pulled of the shock of the round by beating Annie Jones.
As forecast, the rain came down and, with a few minor injuries, the festival overran as the sides fought their way towards the knockout cup rounds.
The finals demonstrated what great rugby can be played in this form of the sport as all teams embraced the ‘run at all costs’ and ‘go for broke’ approach
The Bowl final was a competitive, high-scoring match and Bird in Hand just managed to see off King Street Tavern 33-26.
The Plate final was the clash of the loud shirts and Folly squeaked home 17-14 against Cricketers
The main cup final saw the two best teams of the day in action, with Queens Head up against White Horse.
A captivating game went to the wire and it was White Horse who prevailed 21-17 to claim the title for the first time.
Hassan and Sarah Mantini of the Trooper presented the trophies, so bringing to an end a fabulous season for Petersfield RFC.
