MEMBERS of Petersfield TAGB Taekwondo Club, which runs at The Petersfield School on Monday and Thursday evenings, have taken part in their first ever competition.

This was the annual TAGB Welsh Championships, held in Cardiff at the national indoor running track.

Although not winning any trophies, the Petersfield group acquitted themselves extremely well and now look forward to their next event, somewhat nearer to home – the TAGB South East Championships in Guildford.

Head instructor Colin Sayer, who was awarded his 4th Dan at Cardiff, hopes for more success, now that the squad have had their first experience of competition in the two disciplines – semi-contact sparring and traditional patterns.

Colin said there was always a chance on the day to form a three-person team of the same grade and enter tag team sparring.

At Cardiff, David Milne joined with two others from another club and they managed to reach the second round.

Colin Sayer’s students are now training hard for their next grading in June.
