SALISBURY 3, Haslemere II 1 (Hants 1) Haslemere’s losing streak was stretched to six games, but this was a spirited effort by the visitors who took a bare 11 players to Salisbury.

They opted for an attacking approach and did well to contain Salisbury to a 1-0 lead at half-time, having lost Will Hams for a brief spell in the sin-bin.

Salisbury doubled their lead early in the second half, but Haslemere took heart when Hugo Chandler pulled one back in confident style.

The game was delicately poised as the visitors won a series of short corners and Chandler almost equalised in a one-on-one. However, an interception and quick counter caught Haslemere exposed at the back and Salisbury wrapped it up with a late third goal.

Southampton Uni IV 2, Haslemere IV 2 (Hants 5). This was a gutsy effort by the fourths who twice came from behind to hold the students to a draw, George Chantry scoring a fine last-gasp equaliser.

Haslemere stay second in the league table, two points above University.

Haslemere Vets 7, Horsham 1 (Wessex Supervets Alliance). Haslemere loaned Horsham three players and proceeded to trounce the visitors, with goals from Ian Lynch (3), John Roberts (2), David Sewell and Paul Saunders.

The win keeps the Vets top of the WSA table, but more testing fixtures lie ahead during November.
