HASLEMERE Border turned out in force for one of their favourite events, last Friday’s Elstead Village Marathon.

Luke Shearing headed the Haslemere team with a time of 32mins 04secs, followed by Jon Fairs in 33-08 and Daniel Allaway in 35-40.
Other Haslemere times: David Jarret 36-24, Philomel Bennett 40-33, Jonathon Barker 42-26, Andy Wareham 44-22, Paul Fleming 44-41, Rosie Dyke 44-42, Lisa Blayden 46-22, Claire Beswick 47-15, Tom Bampton 47-36, Lari Williams 47-37, Clair Green 50-22, Steve Loveday 52-15, Dave Bateman 52-14, Emily Sturman 53-10, Tina Laing 56-51, Karen Fairs 58-38, Sara Pennant 1-10-46, Lorraine Herring 1-12-29, Anne Kettles 1-12-48, Patsy Petersen 1-26-42, Steve King 1-26-43.
• The 30th annual Gibbet Hill 10K, organised by Haslemere Border AC, takes place next Wednesday (July 11). The race uses a challenging multi-terrain route through an area of outstanding natural beauty, with stunning views across Surrey and Sussex.
The race takes its name from the infamous murder of a sailor in 1786. The two culprits were hanged on the high point of the route, Gibbet Hill.
Registration opens on the day at 6pm at Our Lady of Lourdes church, Weydown Road, in Haslemere. The race starts at 7.30pm, with prize-giving at 9pm. For more information, visit www.hbac.co.uk
