HASLEMERE Ladies’ home form has been exceptional this season and they did not disappoint in their final Hampshire Division One game before Christmas, scoring five goals as lowly Gosport Borough slumped to an 11th defeat in 11 matches.

From the start, Haslemere meant business and slick passing between Siobhan Orchard-Webb, Ashley Davies and Claire Powell resulted in Alex Hardy sneaking a goal on the back post.

This was in the first minute and Haslemere were hungry for more.

The second goal soon followed as a short-corner strike by Heidi Wells was deflected past the failing goalkeeper by Orchard-Webb.

Any Gosport attacks foundered on the defence of Rebecca Mitchell, Abbie Walhen, Melanie Knight, Sarah Elworthy and Jess Edwards.

Patient passing and fast transfers led to a second goal for Orchard-Webb with a rocket shot from the top of the D.

Gosport came out fighting in the second half and Haslemere were on the back foot for a while.

It didn’t last long as Haslemere gathered themselves for storming finish. Wells found Ashley Davies who slotted the ball past the keeper for the fourth goal.

Another short-corner strike by Heidi Wells rounded off the game.

Keeper Eleanor Abrahams was rarely troubled, while Knight and Mitchell were excellent in their distribution of the ball from the defensive line.
