ALRESFORD Golf Club held their men’s and ladies’ Club Championships and handicap competitions over the weekend of June 24-25, with perfect weather matching the immaculate condition of the course.
This contributed to the lowest winning score for the men’s championship in 10 years. William Briggs shot 71, 70 for a gross 141 for the 36 holes (3 over par) to win by four shots from runner-up Grant Thorne.
The ladies’ championship was won for a fourth year running by Kelly Travers with a gross 152 (79, 73) for 36 holes, while Becky Scott came second on 157.
The men’s handicap competition was for the John Holmes Trophy and the winner was William Pakenham-walsh with a net 131 (7 under par).
In the ladies’ handicap competitions, the Brenda Hedges Trophy (Silver Div) was won by Pat Palmer with a net 143 (1 over par) and the Dorothy Coombs Trophy (Bronze Div) went to Debbie Wills with 149 (7 over par).
