TWO relative newcomers took top honours in the two-day Alton Golf Club Championship – the biggest event in the club’s calendar.

Bobby Alexander won the Championship with a gross 147 for his two rounds, while Trevor Penn claimed the Handicap Prize with a net 131, finally achieving a lower handicap than his brother Chris.

Marion Fell won the Ladies’ Championship and Anne Beaumont, another newcomer, took the Handicap Trophy.

The Long Handicap Championship winner was Bernie Shaw with an impressive net 62 on the Sunday.
