* Three Aldershot players have been named in a contingency squad ahead of England C’s International Champions Trophy fixture in Estonia on Tuesday, November 15.
Cheye Alexander, Shamir Fenelon and Bernard Mensah now have a chance of joining Nick Arnold and Jake Gallagher in Paul Fairclough’s squad which will travel to Tallinn for the game against the Estonia U23 team.
The match will be played at the Albert Le Coq Arena, the home of the full national team and club side FC Flora, in the Estonian capital.
With a capacity of 9,692, it is Estonia’s largest stadium and will host the 2018 UEFA Super Cup final between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League Finals.
* Aldershot Town FC and the Royal British Legion raised £798.80 from Saturday’s Poppy Appeal collection, thanks to the generosity of supporters at the Shots versus Guiseley fixture.
The sum far exceeds last year’s total of £507 and marked the perfect launch to the 2016 Appeal.
The Aldershot Branch of the RBL hopes to raise over £35,000 this year. First held in 1921, and inspired by John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields, the annual Poppy Appeal raises money for the Royal British Legion’s work in supporting members of the armed forces, their families and dependents.
“As secretary of the Aldershot RBL, I would like to thank the officials, staff and supporters for their excellent response to the collection and the two minutes’ silence,” said Michael Mills.
“It is important not only to remember and to help our older veterans, but also to be aware that there is a new generation of younger veterans who also need our continued support.
“I look forward to developing the relationship that has built up between Aldershot Town FC, the Aldershot Garrison and the Royal British Legion.”
