PETERSFIELD Town were left licking their wounds after crashing to a humiliating 8-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Team Solent on Saturday.

Ethan Taylor scored a hat-trick for the university side and Jim Orvis got two. Goivanni Landu, John Wallace and Jemaal Wiseman scored one apiece, while Grant Powell pulled back a late consolation goal.

The Rams now prop up the Sydenhams League Premier Division, level on four points with Team Solent and Bemerton Heath.

• Alresford Town lost 3-1 at home to Portland. The Magpies played 60 minutes with 10 men following a red card and paid the price as Portland scored through Alex Godfrey, Sanchez Baker and Jamie Beasley, and also missed a penalty.

• Blackfield are seven points clear at the top of the Premier Division after thrashing Horndean 6-0.
