ANOTHER defeat dropped Farnham ever closer to the danger zone in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, but Town gave a much-improved display at high-riding Bedfont Sports and were only denied a result by a top-class goalkeeper.

Bedfont stopper Rouke Pickford gave a man-of-the-match performance and made a series of superb saves to keep the visitors at bay.

Adrian Giles also impressed at the other end, but was finally beaten by Julius Mngadi’s strike and that was enough to put Bedfont level on points with Westfield going into the new year, although the leaders have three games in hand.

This Saturday, struggling Farnham host Westfield who have won 18 of their 21 matches to date, losing only twice. On Tuesday, Farnham are home to Bostik Premier League side Met Police in the second round of the Surrey Senior Cup.

• Badshot Lea’s Combined Counties Division One match at Eversley & California fell victim to the wet weather. The Baggies, chasing a ninth consecutive win, play a rare Friday fixture tomorrow when they make the short trip to Fleet Spurs (ko 7.45pm).
