KINGS LANGLEY 2, PETERSFIELD TN 0
PETERSFIELD Town have been adept at wiping out two-goal deficits this season, but they left themselves too much to do after conceding twice early on against a good Kings Langley side.
Making the long trip to Hertfordshire, the Rams were hoping to continue their good run after last weekend’s postponement, but Kings Langley accelerated clear with goals from the aptly named Lorenzo Ferrari and Steve Ward.
It took Ferrari, newly signed from Dunstable Town, only 15 minutes to score on his debut – soon after Howard Neighbour had missed a good chance for the visitors.
Picking up a pass out of defence from Callum Adebiyi, Ferrari was allowed to run 60 yards, albeit showing superb speed and control, before drawing keeper Anthony Ender and slotting home a spectacular opener.
Six minutes later, Ender misjudged a soft shot from Connor Toomey and parried the ball into the path of Ward, who snapped up the chance to make it 2-0.
Thereafter, both sides played some decent football in the very wet conditions. Petersfield still had it all to do at half-time, but remained in contention, especially with Kings losing keeper Xavi Comas with a dislocated finger.
The home side lost their edge in the second half, but could still have added a third when Mitchell Weiss, clear on goal, shot straight at Ender.
Petersfield certainly had the better of the half and thought they had narrowed the deficit when the prolific Alex Przespoleski rounded stand-in keeper Tony Ladyman, only to see his angled shot cleared off the line by Adebiyi at full stretch.
Manny Folarin also made a goal-line clearance as Petersfield pushed hard to the finish, but ultimately the Rams were made to pay for those earlier lapses.
This Saturday, Petersfield travel to Hanwell, one place below the Rams in the Southern League Div I Central table. On Wednesday (Nov 25), Petersfield host fellow Hampshire side Fleet Town.
