BADSHOT LEA 1, WINDSOR 3
THIS defeat effectively consigned Badshot Lea to a bottom-three finish and with the top three in Division One all eligible for the top flight on their facilities, the Baggies are almost certain to be relegated.
The Combined Counties League’s rules allow for three up and three down, but the position will only be known for certain when the FA announces its allocations in late May.
Michael Charles’ side improved in the final weeks of the campaign, but Badshot Lea left themselves too much to do after winning only five out of 25 matches before the turn of the year.
Badshot Lea, who will play their home matches at Camberley’s Krooner Park next season while work continues on the club’s new ground at Wrecclesham, were well in contention at half-time, Ainsley Everett equalising after Barry Dunbar had given Windsor an early lead.
The strong Windsor side, who had beaten Badshot Lea 6-0 in the earlier game, finally regained the lead on 85 minutes, albeit from a soft penalty converted by Rob Lazarczuk.
It was deep into injury time when a goal from Nadir Shafi put the game to bed.
With only a mathematical chance of avoiding the bottom three, Badshot Lea visit second-placed Westfield this Saturday and then host Guildford City on Easter Monday (ko 11.30am at Ash United FC). The Baggies play AFC Hayes away in their final game on April 22.
