ALTON 13,

NEW FOREST 3

ALTON went on another goal riot as they inflicted a crushing defeat on their visitors from the New Forest.

The Hampshire 3 leaders amassed 13 goals this time, taking their tally to 48 in seven matches.

New Forest were sliced open by Alton’s quickfire passing and movement off the ball.

After only five minutes, James Goulding-Stewart spun away from his marker to open the scoring. Tom Singleton scored from the top of the circle and Martin Kercher soon drove home the third from a wide angle.

Alton never let up and further goals from Kercher, Goulding-Stewart and Stuart Gagen made it 6-0 before the visitors pulled one back from a short corner.

Alton immediately resumed their authority after half-time and in less than a minute excellent work by Singleton and Goulding-Stewart set up man-of-the-match Nick Bagley-Reed for his first of the game.

The pressure was relentless and, barely two minutes later, Singleton used his pace to drive into the circle and shoot into the bottom left corner.

Gagen and Goulding-Stewart both completed their hat-tricks and Bagley-Reed grabbed his second in style on the reverse, making it 12-1.

Finally, Bagley-Reed calmly tapped the ball through the keeper’s legs at a short corner to make it a baker’s dozen.

To their credit, a spirited New Forest managed to shut the door on Alton for the last ten minutes and scored two consolation goals.

Undefeated Alton, five points clear at the top of Hampshire 3, travel to play Winchester fourths this Saturday.
