SURREY Police are on the hunt to track down the owners of this lawnmower and hedge trimmer.

The black and green Hayter Harrier 41 petrol lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton engine and a red Flymo HTL170 hedge trimmer, were found in the back of a silver Ford Mondeo seized near Northchapel at around 2.30am on September 22.

A 44 year-old man from Chiddingfold stopped for driving offences, had his car seized by police.

Detective Constable Richard Pegden, who is investigating the incident, said: “There is no doubt that the actions of this man, his driving and time of night, are highly suspicious.

“What I am keen to find out is whether anyone recognises the items pictured. Have you had them stolen from your garage or shed recently? We’ve not received any reports relating to these items and have visited nearby homes to check if the property belongs to them.

“It is important to take measures to protect your property, especially sheds and out buildings.”

Police advise marking belongings with a forensic marking kit such as Selecta DNA spray or Smart Water, registering valuables on Immobilise so they can be returned if they are recovered, storing high-value items in a correctly installed safe.

*If you have any information regarding any of the items pictured, call 101 quoting reference number PR/45180100479. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
