Adam Carew, who represents Whitehill & Bordon and Greatham on East Hampshire District Council, is asking men to grow a fun moustache for Movember.

This international campaign to raise awareness about men’s health issues in November began in Australia, where a moustache is known as a ‘mo’.

Cllr Carew said: “Men are notoriously bad at talking about our health.

“That’s what the Movember campaign is all about, growing a moustache and/or a beard – the more ostentatious the better – to raise awareness about men’s health and thus avoid untimely early death.

“Obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer are a real problem for men. Men can get breast cancer. Prostate and testicular cancer are not screened on the NHS. Depression and suicide are much higher in men.

“If any of these issues concern you please talk to friends, family and your GP.”
