BACK in Haslemere Hall by popular demand was The Whiskey Affair Festival – and the chance to sample the ‘golden nectar’ from exciting new distillers around the world.

The popular touring event, founded by Alton-based Catherine Jackson, offered four bars for scotch, bourbon, whiskey and whiskey cocktails, a free masterclass on Benromach whisky with Kat Presley, from Gordon and Macphail, plus stalls from brands giving away samples and a mobile photo booth to share the fun.

Catherine said: “What a wonderful time we had at Haslemere on Saturday.

“We’re trawling through the records to see what the best-sellers were. Thanks to all who attended, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

“We had new American family-owned brand Heaven Hill, which makes three bourbons and also new for Haslemere was Swedish distillery MacKmyra, who joined our team offering samples.

“We had Petworth-based Becki Short singing vintage sets from the 1940s to the 1970s and a couple of swing dancers to to the great dance floor at Haslemere Hall.

“We aim to come back next year. We really enjoy Haslemere and are finding people keen on whiskey are not only the older generation, but those in their 20s and 30s.”
