REVISED plans to demolish a chalet bungalow next to Haslemere’s Weydown Industrial Estate and build a three-storey block of six flats got the green light from planners last week.

An application for seven flats was refused in June on the grounds its “cramped and crowded layout” constituted poor design and due to inadequate amenity space and cycle storage failed to provide an adequate standard of accommodation.

Officers recommended Waverley’s southern area planning committee granted consent for the revised plan reduced to six flats with increased landscaping, bin and cycle storage. Ten parking spaces will be provided.

Their report to committee members said: “The proposal is considered a suitable location for the provision of new housing. It would provide five additional dwellings towards the council’s housing need.”
