AN elderly widow’s family is appealing for the safe return of her late husband’s “treasured” war medals, which were stolen from her home in Godalming.
Surrey Police are investigating the theft of the four war medals dating back to the First and Second World Wars taken from a display cabinet inside the house some time between May 18 and July 12.
Pc Vanessa Privett said: “The victim’s family cannot comprehend that someone would take advantage of an elderly lady. These medals are sentimental more than anything, but are absolutely priceless to the victim.
“We greatly need the public’s backing to help track down these medals and reunite this lady with her husband’s treasured items.”
Anyone who has been approached by someone trying to sell these or similar medals, or who might have bought medals that resemble those pictured, or who can help the police inquiry is asked to call 101 quoting reference 45160061031, or use the online reporting system at www.report.police. uk/ and enter the reference number in the “additional information” section.
