OLD Thorns again hosted the annual Peter Alliss Masters golf tournament, presenting eight wheelchairs to children with limited mobility to improve their quality of life.

Now in its 29th year, previous events have raised more than £7.5m.

Since its inception in 1975, clubs and organisations have raised money to fund bespoke powered wheelchairs costing between £4,000 and £5,000 that are not provided by the state.

From 2006, when the crusade was fully registered as a charity, it has raised more than £1.45m and bought more than 400 powered wheelchairs.
