GILBERT White’s House Museum at Selborne will provide the venue this weekend for the 25th Unusual Plant Fair.
Open from 10.30am to 5pm on both days, there will be an opportunity to view and buy unusual plants, seeds and garden furniture, while on Saturday there will be a Pimm’s Bar, opening at 11am, and a tour of the 18th Century garden with Rose Malyon, starting at 2pm.
On Sunday, there will be a series of talks and workshops, including ‘The Rise and Consequences of the English Landscape Garden’ at 11am, ‘18th Century Gardening - then and now’ at noon, a rose-grafting demonstration and workshop with David May at 1pm, exploring the ‘Old Roses at Gilbert White’s House’ with garden manager Rose Malyon at 2pm, and an opportunity to ‘Discover Ferns’ at 3pm.
There will be free on-site parking and a wheelbarrow service in operation.
On Sunday evening, the Gilbert White Field Studies Centre will host a Father’s Day Sleepover, giving children over the age of five to chance to bring their dad along for an exciting evening of activities. The cost is £20 and includes all materials, refreshments and breakfast.
