ONE of Alton’s best-known characters, Norman Gill, sadly passed away in Southampton on July 1.

While friends locally were concerned that since he has no known family Norman would be buried in Southampton and not in his home town where he was known and loved, this will not be the case.

Norman’s service is at St Lawrence Church in Alton tomorrow at 2.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
