THE Conservatives have increased their majority and held the East Hampshire seat after yesterday’s General Election vote.

Damian Hinds polled 35,263 votes – a three per cent increase on 2015 and 63.6 per cent of the total vote – while Labour’s Rohit Dasgupta won 9,411 votes (17%), giving Hinds a majority of 25,852.

Labour’s share of the vote was up nearly seven per cent on the last election two years ago.

Liberal Democrat candidate Richard Robinson polled 8,403 votes (15.2%), the Green Party’s Richard Knight won 1,760 votes (3.2%), and Susan Jerrard (Justice & Anti-Corruption Party) earned 571 votes (1%), a one per cent increase for the party on the 2015 figures.
